Jean Reis holds a Master of Music degree with a specialization in Orchestral Conducting and Violin from the prestigious Andrews University and University of Redlands. During his studies, he had the privilege of studying under distinguished conductors such as Zvonimir Hacko, Marvin Rabin, Jon Robertson, Keith Igarashi, Eleazar de Carvalho, and Jeff Rickard (choral conducting). In violin, he was mentored by renowned instructors, including Germano Streithorst, Berenice C. Liedke, Erich Leheninger, Audino Nunes, Alberto Jaffé, and Lyndon Taylor.
As a conductor, Jean Reis has led numerous internationally acclaimed orchestras and ensembles. He has conducted the Arpeggione Orchestra (Austria), Mont Blanc Chamber Orchestra (France), Buenos Aires City Symphonic Band, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Cultura Symphony Orchestra, São Paulo State Jazz Symphony Orchestra, Eleazar de Carvalho Chamber Orchestra, Campinas Symphony Orchestra, University of North Dakota String Orchestra, University City Symphony (Missouri), Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (Vietnam), among others. He was invited to conduct the opening concert of the Premier Orchestral Institute in Jackson, USA, and led performances of *The Nutcracker* with the Northwest Florida Ballet. He premiered Arthur Barbosa’s *Sinfonia Brasileira* and Guilherme Bernstein Seixas’ *Piano Concerto* with the Symphony of the Americas at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale. With the Mendoza Philharmonic Orchestra, he conducted symphonic concerts and Mozart's opera *Don Giovanni*. In the USA, he conducted Mozart's *Coronation Mass* with the University of New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and Choir. At the University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, where he served as assistant conductor, Jean Reis was responsible for the premiere of Arthur Barbosa’s *Violin Concerto* and played a pivotal role in assisting young Brazilian musicians to continue their studies in the USA.
Jean Reis has also enjoyed a distinguished career as a violinist. He has performed with major orchestras in São Paulo, including the São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra, São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, and São Paulo State Jazz Symphony Orchestra. In the USA, he was a member of orchestras such as Riverside Symphony Orchestra, Redlands Symphony Orchestra, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Meridian Symphony Orchestra, Gulfport Symphony, among others. He taught violin and orchestral practice at the Universidade Livre de Música and ACARTE and performed as a violinist with the Quarteto Paulista de Cordas, appearing in prominent concert halls across Brazil, the USA, and Europe.
As a guest conductor, Jean Reis participated in the Hot Springs Music Festival (Arkansas), where he recorded Alan Shulman’s *Cello Concerto* with cellist Wesley Baldwin. He also conducted at The National Music Festival (USA) and the Espressivo Music Festival (Montenegro). He was invited by the École Normale de Musique de Paris for two years, where he served on the jury for the Concertist Diploma in the Violin class.
Beyond his work as a conductor and violinist, Jean Reis is recognized for his contributions as Artistic Director and founder of over 80 music festivals in Brazil, including the Curitiba International Singing Festival (FICC), Paraná Opera Festival, Maringá International Music Festival (FIMMA), UNASP-SP International Music Festival (MUNASP), Pampa International Music Festival (FIMP), and Bauru International Music Festival (FIMUB), among others. Currently, the festivals under his direction include the Festival Música nas Montanhas in Poços de Caldas, MG, the International Music by the Sea Festival in Alfenas, MG, the Araucárias do Paraná International Music Festival (FESTIMAP) in Toledo, PR, and the Festival Música na Serra in Lages, SC.
Jean Reis has received numerous honors, including the title of "Cidadão Poços Caldense" for his contributions to culture and the Don Pedro II Medal during the city’s 150th-anniversary celebrations. He was awarded the "Carlos Gomes" Cultural Merit Order at the Commander level, the highest honorary distinction from the Brazilian Society of Arts, Culture, and Education, and was honored with the Medal of the 50th Anniversary of the Brazilian Peace Forces, granted by the Brazilian Association of United Nations Peacekeeping Forces.
Currently, Jean Reis is the founding conductor and music director of the Orquestra Versatilis and Orquestra Versatilis Filarmônica Mineira, as well as a violinist with the Ensemble Versatilis, Duo10 with guitarist Felipe Coelho, Duo Versatilis with pianist Maria José Carrasqueira, and DuoAR with pianist Flávio Augusto.
